About Power to Connect

Power to Connect began in 2020 as a partnership between Wandsworth Council and Battersea Power Station to help families during lockdown home-schooling, and is now an independent registered charity. It aims to give Wandsworth residents the devices, connectivity and skills they need, running digital skills courses and drop-ins across the borough's libraries and community venues.

It accepts fully working laptops (up to eight years old), tablets and smartphones (up to four years old) with chargers from individuals and businesses. Volunteers wipe the data securely, reinstall the operating system and fix faults, and the devices are passed to local schools and community organisations for people who need them.

Donations can be dropped in Nine Elms or at Wandsworth Town Hall, posted, or collected by volunteer drivers for batches of ten or more. Devices that cannot be refurbished have their drives physically destroyed before being passed to a third party for recycling.
