About the data
Where our listings come from, which public registers we check, what “verified” and “company says” mean, how often we check, and how to get a listing corrected.
Green ITAD is an independent directory. Listings are free. We check what we can against public registers; companies’ own claims are shown as their claims.
Where listings come from
- The company’s own website — name, contact details (only the general business phone and email it publishes), sites, services, collection and drop-off terms, who it works with, and the licences, certifications and environmental claims it states. Each listing shows the pages we used.
- Official registers and scheme lists — to check the licences and certifications a company states (see below).
- Companies House — company numbers, and to make sure a company is still active.
- Companies themselves — through “Update this listing” and add your company. We check what they tell us before publishing it.
We use directories, review sites and search results only to discover companies — never as a source of facts.

We use registers only to check what a company says and to link to its entry. We don’t republish register data — for example, we never copy numbers from the Environment Agency’s waste carriers register (which may only be used for checking), we never show an individual’s name from a register, and we don’t publish the regulators’ AATF lists as a dataset. Some registers can only be searched by hand, so those checks take longer.

What the labels mean
- Verified — we found it on the official register or the scheme’s own list. The listing shows which register, the date we checked and, where the register gives one, the expiry date, with a link to the entry.
- Company says — the company states it on its website, and we haven’t checked it yet. It may well be right; ask for the number and check it yourself.
- Not found when we checked — we looked on the register on the date shown and couldn’t find a match. Registers lag behind, entries can be under another company name or number, and some can be withheld from the public register (for example on grounds of national security or commercial confidentiality). We show this neutrally — it isn’t an accusation — and correct it as soon as we’re shown the entry.
- No longer current — the register or list showed it as lapsed, withdrawn or not renewed on the date shown (for example a company on ADISA’s lapsed list, or an AATF no longer on the current year’s list).
- Expired — the register showed it as expired on the date shown.
Registers change. A check is correct on the day it was made — before handing over equipment, check the current entry yourself or ask the company for its documents.
Environmental claims
Claims such as “zero to landfill” or “100% recycled” are shown as the company’s own claim, in a box marked “They say”. We don’t verify them. Under the CMA’s Green Claims Code, businesses must be able to back up environmental claims — so it is reasonable to ask a company how its claim is measured and what happens to every type of material.
How often we check
Every listing shows the date it was last checked. We aim to re-check each listing at least every 6 months, and straight away when a company asks us to update it or someone reports a problem.
Corrections
If you run a listed company, use Update this listing on your page. Anyone can use Report a problem. Or email hello@greenitad.co.uk. We fix factual errors quickly and never charge for changes.
Distances, postcodes and maps
- Distances are straight-line (“as the crow flies”) from the centre of the postcode or town you enter to each company’s nearest site. Road distances will be longer.
