Verified means we found it on the official register or the scheme’s own list on the date shown. Company says means it is stated on the company’s website and we haven’t checked it yet. Registers can lag behind, so “not found” or “no longer current” is not an accusation. What these mean.
Environmental claims
“Says physically destroyed hard drives are recycled with over 98% recovery and 0% to landfill”
This is the company’s own claim, as stated on its website. We haven’t checked it. How to judge “zero to landfill” claims.
About Veritas Digital Services
Veritas Digital Services is a Stevenage-based data company working from Wedgwood Court. Its main business is certified data erasure and data recovery, and it prefers wiping drives so they can be reused rather than destroying them.
It erases storage to the level the customer needs (from single-pass to multi-pass overwrites), degausses drives, and shreds SSDs, issuing a destruction certificate for each device by serial number. Redundant hard drives that are not reused are degaussed, crushed and shredded, with the components recycled. It also offers IT and data-centre decommissioning, relocation, asset tagging and audits, and buy-back with profit share.
Wiped equipment is resold or passed on through its sister company Sustainable Tech 4 Good, which supplies refurbished technology to charities and not-for-profit organisations.
