About SocialBox.Biz

SocialBox.Biz is a community interest company registered in north-west London that runs a 'reuse before recycling' service for corporate IT. It collects used but still working laptops, desktops and other equipment from companies, universities and other organisations, securely wipes them, installs open-source software and passes them to charity partners such as Age UK groups in London, The Passage and C4WS homeless project.

It works business to business only (individuals are pointed to its separate initiatives). Corporate donors receive data-sanitisation certificates, which it says follow NIST SP 800-88, and an impact report covering devices reused, carbon savings and beneficiaries. It also runs training for formerly homeless people and offers CSR and sustainability consultancy.

Equipment that cannot be reused is passed to WEEE-compliant recycling partners rather than processed in-house.
