Verified means we found it on the official register or the scheme’s own list on the date shown. Company says means it is stated on the company’s website and we haven’t checked it yet. Registers can lag behind, so “not found” or “no longer current” is not an accusation. What these mean.
Environmental claims
“Says 0% of redundant equipment goes to landfill and that everything is processed at its own site”
This is the company’s own claim, as stated on its website. We haven’t checked it. How to judge “zero to landfill” claims.
About Secure Data Recycling (SDR)
Secure Data Recycling (SDR) runs a secure processing site at Alderley Edge Business Centre in Chelford, near Macclesfield. It collects redundant IT from businesses, schools, the health service and other organisations nationwide, using its own vetted staff and vehicles, and provides asset lists and destruction certificates.
Data can be wiped with Ontrack Eraser software, degaussed, or shredded either on the customer's premises in a mobile shredding truck or at SDR's CCTV-monitored depot. Shredding covers hard drives, tapes, discs and mobile phones.
Equipment that can be reused is refurbished and resold, with the aim of returning value to the customer; the rest is recycled at SDR's own site. It also offers IT decommissioning, office removals and document scanning and storage.
