About Solidaritech

Solidaritech is a community interest company, set up in 2017, that exists to get technology to refugees and asylum seekers in Yorkshire and the Humber so they can study, convert qualifications, resolve their immigration status and find work. It reports refurbishing and gifting over 1,000 machines in a year.

Businesses and individuals can donate laptops, desktops, tablets, smartphones, chargers and peripherals by bringing them to the Bradford office, posting them or arranging a pick-up. Technicians overwrite residual data (usually within a week of receipt) and issue a certificate of data destruction, then install a fresh operating system - often lightweight open-source software - fix faults such as chargers, keys or trackpads, and PAT test machines before allocating them through refugee and asylum-seeker organisations.

For companies it can work with information-security teams, add donor logos to machines and supply case studies and press material.
