About Laptops for All (formerly Laptops for Kids)
Laptops for All is run by the David and Jane Richards Family Foundation in Sheffield. It began in 2020 as Laptops for Kids, a campaign with WANdisco, The Sheffield Star and Learn Sheffield that distributed more than 15,000 new and refurbished devices to children across the North of England, and has since widened to people of all ages without a device.
Individuals and businesses can offer laptops and tablets that meet a minimum specification; once accepted, they are given drop-off details. Devices are reset, wiped using donated Blancco erasure licences (with certification on request), repaired and set up, then allocated free to individuals and households referred by partner charities such as Age UK and The Food Works. Desktops and monitors are not accepted, and businesses with larger batches are encouraged to recycle them and donate any proceeds.
