NIEA waste authorisation
In Northern Ireland, waste carriers, licences and exemptions are authorised by the Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA, part of DAERA). Repairing and refurbishing WEEE can be done under a paragraph 49 exemption, renewed every 12 months; larger operations need a waste management licence or PPC permit.
