About Lions IT Refurbishment Programme (Fleet Lions Club)
Fleet Lions Club, working with neighbouring Lions Clubs in north-east Hampshire, has run an IT refurbishment programme since January 2019 and delivered its 3,000th computer in early 2025. Laptops donated by schools, businesses and individuals are checked, wiped clean, repaired where needed and loaded with an official copy of Windows and free software such as LibreOffice.
The refurbished laptops are given free of charge to local non-profit organisations, charities, preschools and families in need; the team has supplied school children during the pandemic, displaced Ukrainian families (with dual-alphabet keyboards) and people returning to work. It asks for machines running Windows 8 or later.
