About GiroTech (Giroscope)

GiroTech is the community computer project of Giroscope, a Hull housing and regeneration charity (registered charity 1117457). It works from Selby Street Yard in west Hull and gives volunteers and staff, many of them neurodivergent, practical experience in refurbishing technology.

It accepts donated PCs, laptops, tablets and phones from individuals and businesses, sanitises data to the HMG IS5 standard, and refurbishes the devices. These are sold cheaply or given to people who would otherwise be digitally excluded; equipment that cannot be reused is recycled. It also offers low-cost repairs, free mobile data for people in urgent need and beginner IT classes.

GiroTech is part of the National Digital Inclusion Network, the National Device Bank and the National Data Bank. Donations can be dropped off or collected by arrangement.
